Dawid Scumwalski I've been binge listening to Jason Soliday's works for a while now and this struck me as the darkest and most tense record he ever put out. It's made of two quite similar, very tense tracks with a high-pitched layer on top which adds to the anxious feeling of the whole. In my humble opinion, it is one of his best works and please do not sleep on this one. You'll miss out on quite an experience. This one resonated with me on a very deep level, quite unlike anything else.

In November of 2012, Matt Taggart posted a call for mail art works, posting a rather empty map of the state of Montana and the words “Welcome to Montana” printed above it, with the request to print, modify, and return the resulting image to him. Instead, I used the map to recreate an experience of the state of Montana, with the provided map being the only information source about this state.

Four cut-ups of the map were made, one for each of the cardinal directions. Each new image was then converted to audio, by converting the raw data in an audio editor, and also reinterpreting the images using an application called Photosounder. The resulting audio files were processed and mixed down to four mono files, and then combined into the final pair of stereo recordings.

While it is certainly acceptable to listen to the individual stereo tracks independently, for optimal recreation of a state of Montana, both recordings should be played simultaneously on separate stereo playback systems, arranged in opposite corners of the room, the listener seated equidistant from both.
